Student's Perception towards Implementation of Blended Learning in UNITEN: An Update
Abstract
Blended Learning (BL) approach has been deemed to be an effective solution in improving students’ academic achievement. The purpose of this research is to investigate students’ perception of BL implementation in UNITEN. Data are gathered from undergraduate and postgraduate students, data are analyzed and compared with the previous year’s data. The questionnaire consists of four parts on BL, i.e. Demographic, Awareness, Satisfaction, and Suggestions. Data shows the percentage for awareness among students in 2019 – accounting for Aware and Fully aware – is 64.5%. 28% of respondents are neutral and 7.5% are Somewhat aware and Not aware at all. Comparatively, a study in 2018 shows students who were Aware and Fully Aware of BL implementation are 83%, while the students that answered Somehow Aware and Not Aware at All are at 17%. Data from 2019 shows a positive increase, i.e. 79% answered that they have experienced courses taught in BL method in 2019 as compared to only 77.7% in 2018. Positive growth is observed in the number of respondents who have used LMS in their courses taken. Respondents’ perceived satisfaction in BL approach implementation on the courses conducted shows an increase in percentage from 2018 to 2019. Most of the students were satisfied and agreed that BL had helped them. Findings from the study are beneficial in improving BL implementation in UNITEN.
