Abstract

Size-appropriate child restraint and rear seating has dramatically reduced the risk of injuries and fatalities on children passenger car occupant in a crash. A large number of studies over the past decade have involved some type of intervention to increase the correct use of child restraints, including booster seats and seat belts. Most of these efforts included training, educational material, and messages as part of the interventions. This paper is explaining the child restraint training program that involved a hands-on educational intervention. Research has indicated that the hands-on educational intervention has made a significant difference in the proper use of a child passenger restraint by a parent.
